Insert Molding

OvermoldingThe Wren Manufacturing Group offers Insert Molding Technologies to support its growing venue of Value-Added Manufacturing Solutions.

With the acquisition of equipment, tooling and expertise, the Wren Manufacturing Group has perfected its capabilities to provide Insert Molding / in mold assembly to its diversified customer base. It is a natural fit.  Having supplied precision metal stampings since 1977 to a host of OEMs across a broad spectrum of industries, including automotive, aerospace, appliance and medical device manufacturing, The Wren Manufacturing Group has integrated Insert Molding / In Mold Assembly into its core processes, providing you a distinct benefit.

What Is Insert Molding?

Insert Molding is an innovative technology that emerged almost 30 years ago, which greatly improves manufacturing efficiency by allowing “in mold assembly” of metal or plastic substrates and plastic components to form an integrated subassembly or finished good.

Saves Labor & Material Handling Costs. This method of production manufacturing saves labor and material handling costs while significantly improving the quality and reliability of the end product. Over the years, this method of manufacturing has been advanced and refined to its current state of the art, yielding superior results for the producer, the customer and ultimately the consumer.

Where Do You Find Overmolded Products?

They’re everywhere! It is impossible to go anywhere today where manufactured goods are available and not find an overmolded product. Insert Molding is used to produce so many things we use every day that we might just take it for granted.

Consider These Applications Where Insert Molding Is Evident:

Medical Products and Devices

Personal/Home Healthcare Products

Sporting Goods

Hand Tools

Garden Tools and Accessories

Toys

Personal/Home Electronics

Home Kitchen Appliances

Major Appliances

Housewares

Automotive/OEM and Aftermarket

Aerospace/Commercial and Military

Firearms/Stocks, Clips, Sites

Baby and Infant Care Products

Telecommunications/Cell Phones

The Wren Advantage

Single-Source One-Stop-Shop

Choosing the Wren Manufacturing Group to meet your Insert Molding needs offers some distinct advantages, beginning and ending with the single source, “one-stop-shop” solution to handle your Insert Molding project from concept to full production.

We provide real value, where few if any can compete, accelerating your return on investment.

The Wren Manufacturing Group provides the precision metal-stamped components you need as a constituent part of your overmolded assembly. Our forte has always been metal-stamping. Now we marry that technology with our Insert Molding capabilities to streamline your sourcing requirements.

By choosing Wren as your supplier, you get both the substrate metal-stamping and the molded product from one source, relieving you of the wasteful costs and concerns associated with managing multiple suppliers and the challenges that can result.

Improve Your Competitive Edge Through Cost Savings

You will experience significant cost savings related to handling and storage, logistics and administrative burden, by simply keeping the work in one house, under one roof, rather than separately purchasing the stamping from one vendor and transferring to another to complete the assembly process.

Optimized Performance With "Matched Set" Design

The Wren Manufacturing Group controls the tooling “design and build” processes for both the die for the substrate metal-stamping and the mold for the finished assembly, creating a “matched set” of production tools.

Matched Set design ensures that both tools are designed in synch to provide optimal performance. Part tolerance and tooling technologies are leveraged to ensure efficient processing. Even your most complex component can be tooled to optimize production.

When the substrate component “fits” right in the assembly mold you can be assured that clamp pressure, material flow, time and temperature are controlled to eliminate defects and reduce the need for secondary operations such as flash removal and part trimming, all saving you time and money.
